Teaneck, in partnership with EZ Ride Transportation Management Association, is kicking off its Street Smart NJ campaign April 23 at 1 p.m. to raise awareness about pedestrian safety in the Cedar Lane Business District.
The campaign will focus on the heavily used crosswalk at 501 Cedar Lane, in the heart of the Cedar Lane Business District. The township added curb bump outs at this crosswalk to increase pedestrian visibility. The campaign will focus on educating the community about this new safety feature. During the campaign, pedestrian safety signage will be on display, safety materials will be distributed, and police will be participating in a public education campaign.
Street Smart NJ, created by the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), aims to reduce the number of pedestrian-vehicle crashes in New Jersey by combining public education and law enforcement efforts.
