The City of New Brunswick is the latest community to launch a Street Smart NJ campaign.
The initiative coincides with students returning to school and the several big events. Among them is the opening of the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center.
New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety awarded a grant to the Police Department. The grant will be used for increased patrols, signs and public education.
Middlesex County Freeholder Charles Kenny, who sits on the NJTPA Board of Trustees, said these campaigns have successfully changed behaviors that contribute to crashes.
“We’re thrilled to have our county seat participate in this important program,” Freeholder Kenny said. “By working together to raise awareness we can make a difference. Remember to Drive Smart, Walk Smart and Be Street Smart when traveling our roads.”
