Garfield Campaign Urges People to Be Street Smart

The City of Garfield launched a month-long Street Smart campaign to improve pedestrian safety in the community.
 

While the campaign had been planned for some time, it kicked off days after a 42-year-old man was killed while walking along a busy road.
 

In addition to stepping up enforcement of pedestrian-related laws, the police will also educate people about safe driving and walking.
 

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco participated in the event and urged people to avoid distractions when driving and walking.
